ugh honestly i think this is one of the reasons why i will NEVER like the bruce+damian dynamic as much as the dick+damian

because bruce is the kind of person who does love people and puts them before himself and everything, but he doesn’t always show it well, especially not in the little like day-to-day things. and then damian’s the kind of person—especially with his childhood and the people he’s been around—who needs attention from people, affectionate attention and caring attention, without them either being terrified of him or terrified for him.

dick can give him that and bruce can’t. just the way that bruce kind of brushes off damian in this scene like seriously he doesn’t even look back in the last panel, and just for damian to be rejected after saying something like that? it’s not easy for him to admit mistakes or to admit to caring, and to have him do that and not have it be recognized by bruce at all just frustrates me.
